The Sisters

SEEDS and the Sisters Who are you? The Sisters is a global community of women committed to creating a more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable future through empowering feminine leadership. Founded by Roz Savage (Roz#1176), we are registered in the UK as a Community Interest Company, and our current membership spans 7 countries. https://www.thesisters.global/about-us How are you serving the regenerative movement? We believe that feminine/yin wisdom and leadership is essential to creating better balance in the world, as the old patriarchal structures become increasingly outdated and unfit for purpose. Of course, women don’t have a monopoly on feminine wisdom – men can also powerfully express their healthy feminine aspects – but during the current transition to a world of greater balance, women need specific support and encouragement to step up and speak up as embodiments of powerful feminine leadership. Within the Sisters, we are building a global network of mutual support, understanding, and compassion. We connect through twice-yearly retreats (when not in times of Covid) and on weekly Zoom calls, during which we discuss topics relating to personal growth and prosocial impact. Our mission falls into three dimensions: - The Inner Journey: developing greater self-knowledge through inquiries into values, purpose, and belief systems - The Shared Journey: weaving a global web of connection, showing up in sisterhood as effective collaborators and co-creators - The Outer Journey: becoming strong feminine leaders capable of creating positive social impact We form sub-groups, called Coracles, which fall into three categories: - Practical projects with real world impact, such as intergenerational letter writing, establishing vegetable gardens, creating intentional communities, supporting female candidates for political office, organising beach and riverside clean-ups, etc. - Research and discussion projects to produce analysis and strategy reports - Mutual support groups, such as accountability buddies, meditation groups, wisdom-sharing circles, etc. What would you do with this campaign fund and why are you asking for the # of Seeds you’re asking for? We are currently a small community of around 60 Sisters across 7 countries. We have established a strong culture of values and principles, and we are ready to expand our membership and increase our impact. We are requesting support from the SEEDS community so that we can: 1. Fund an initial injection of Seeds into the Sisters’ internal economy. Existing Sisters would be given 111 Seeds each, and new Sisters given 111 Seeds when they join. “Joining” in this context means committing to a monthly pay-what-you-can membership fee in local currency, to help us fund the hiring of a “Sister-in-Chief” (see below). Within our internal economy, Seeds transactions negotiated between Sisters might include: a. exchanges for coaching or mentoring services, acupuncture, nutrition advice, etc b. to show appreciation for homestays and hospitality c. personal accountability arrangements (e.g. “ I will give you 3 Seeds every time you keep your commitment to your gratitude practice”). 60 x 111 Seeds for existing Sisters + anticipated 200 x 111 Seeds for new Sisters in 2021 = 28,860 Seeds There would also be a scale of rewards in Seeds, to be proposed by the Sister-in-Chief(s) and approved by the community of Sisters, for activities such as: a. participating in a Coracle to write future-focused white papers or participate in prosocial/regenerative project (1999 Seeds each for approx 6 Sisters for a 6-month project = 11,994 per Coracle) b. running a workshop for our community (999 Seeds) c. organising a retreat (3999 Seeds each for typically 2 Sisters co-leading retreat = 7,998 Seeds per retreat, typically 2 retreats per year) 5 x 11,994 Seeds for Coracles + 6 x 999 Seeds for workshops + 2 x 7,998 Seeds for retreats = 59,970+ 5,994 + 15,996 = 81,960 Seeds Total for Sisters internal economy = 110,820 Seeds for 2021 2. Hire a part-time “Sister-in-Chief” to help the founder design and execute the long-term strategy, and to run the day-to-day operations of the Sisters. She will be paid partly in Seeds, and partly in local currency funded by our membership fees. She will put our nonprofit governance in place, formulate and execute a plan to expand our membership, increase the number of Coracles, update and improve our website, and create an onboarding/training program for new Sisters. She will also be responsible for managing Seeds rewards within the Sisters organisation, according to the terms of this proposal. We envisage awarding 399 Seeds per 8-hour day, for up to 2 days a week (maximum 41,496 Seeds/year), plus the local currency component. If the role is split between two Big Sisters, the award will be shared proportionately. Total request for 2021: 152,316 Seeds We envisage that specific Coracles may in the future apply for SEEDS funding for their projects, and Sisters may also wish to become Ambassadors, which will help grow the SEEDS community and economy. Thank you in advance for reading this proposal, and we hope you will support us, and/or become a Sister! More details on our website at https://www.thesisters.global/.
